Picture Discussion

A bunch of teenagers are seen to be attempting the low elements. There is a spider web game going on. This is probably a game challenge as majority of them look tensed. There is a boy getting out from the other side of the spider web with the help of his other teammates. The boy is giving all his trust to his friends who are holding onto tightly him and at the same time supporting him on going to the other side of the spider web. The boy looks like he is struggling to get out. The popping veins on his arms show that he is using all his strength to get out of the spider web. This also shows that he is straining his muscles. His teammates are also doing a very good job as the boy is already halfway through this spider web. In this case, teamwork or even known as workmanship is strongly demonstrated. The girl who is just right behind the boy who is getting out of the spider web seems quite happy. A widespread smile is shown on her face. She is probably one of the teammates of this bunch of teenagers. She looks like she is cheering for them and I think its good as it really helps to keep the team spirit up. She is probably happy as her team is going on smoothly and on a quite a good speed. At the end of the day, the teams’ bond would probably get stronger and this team could be known as a well-built team. These qualities are most likely to be the objectives of this whole activity.

UNWANTED & NEGLECTED

To me, to be unwanted and neglected is the most awful thing in life. i mean everyone wants to love and be loved. Or it should be, everyone has the right to love and to be loved. Moreover, in 1949, unwanted daughters were peddled as slaves. Isn't THAT awful?! We, as people, live to love. Neglectionn is seriously cruel. Especially if it is from your own parents. Now, neglection brings a great impact to ones emotions. Sad and anger will be combined and that when comes the revenge story comes in. Ones again I would say that being unwanted and to be neglected is the most awful thing in life that you may ever come over. Try being one if you aren't satisfied.

CAUGHT IN A STORM

To be caught in a storm on a mountain, when hiking, is a really, really bizarre experience.Just imagine yourself stucked 1 600 feet above the mountain's base on a three-foot ledge. From there you could see big cauliflower clouds boiling up. Even if the storm eased, the thrill and fear of it will still be there. What if you were to rappel down? What if you suddenly you get hypothermia? And what if suddenly a storm exploded on you in a chaos of wind, water and noise. And if you were to make a shelter, that bivouac shelter thrashed wildly in the storm and spray began seeping in. By then you can forget a good-night's-sleep. you will have to continue your journey. However, there was an explosion of light and head-numbling noise. Then, a massive electric charge pass up your legs from the soles of your feet. Your right leg felt as though it were being groung in a vise. Pain was slowly fading to numbness when you were hammered once more by dazzling glare and noise. The storm raged on as if it were never going to stop. Coldness of the breezing wind clutch into your veins. By that time, you will long to be in flames. Freedom is what you want. From the wind, the cold, the hike, the storm, the FEAR!

The two victims were yery young . A 32 year old odd-job labourer, Mr Mohamed Rafi, added,"They were both so young!" One of the victims were a GCE 'O' Level certified student ,18 year old, Ms Eirene Loh and an undergraduant whose going to turn 22 years old next month, Mr Eric Tan.

She was also sure she saw two cars.Mdm Moliah Bte Ismail, 36 years old, housewife who was one of the passengers in one of the cars, said, "All I heard was a big bang." She was unsure on what were the cause of the incident.

40 year old, Inspector Abdul Rahman said "There were streams of blood on the road and that will really help us on our investigation. He was sure that the offender was drunk as the hidden CCTV shows that the BMW 130I 3DR was seen going in all directions and it seems that the car was not controlled diligently. Inspector Abdul Rahman was also shocked by what was left of the motorcycle.

when interviewed, Inspector Abdul Rahman advised drivers to drive carefully and not to talk on the phone when driving. He had also added that if to calling or answering that phonecall is seriously very necessary, kindly use an earphone or invest on a bluetooth. Otherwise never use a handheld phone when driving.

Although the police are working really hard on the case and it is sure to be solved, bystanders or eye-witnesses are urged to come forward with information on the license plate number of the vehicle(s) involved in the hit-and-run accident.

A hit-and run incident is a very serious offence. Therefore be diligent when driving and do not drink and drive!

Chek Jawa Situational Writing

Chong Boon Secondary School
2 Ang Mo Kio Street 44
Singapore 569250

Dear Chong Boonnites,

Tour to Chek Jawa

I am Shu'ada, president of the Green Club. We have decided to arrange a guided trip to Chek Jawa as it is a popular nature enclave in Pulau Ubin. Its widespread of marine flora and fauna is sure to grab your attention. Marine sea creatures such as sea anemones awaits you too!

Chek Jawa had re-open to the public on 8th of July, 2007. The new boardwalk running along the coast and into the mangrove area allows you to to get up close to plant and marine life such as fiddler crabs and monitor lizards, without damaging the area. At the visitor centre, you can learn more about Chek Jawa's wildlife.

All this nature beauty would make an eye-opening for you and let you really know what nature is all about. This trip would not only widened your knowledge but it will also let you understand why we should preserve all this nature and make an outlook for the future generations.

As you would be able to see more during a low-tide, we have decided to make it on the oncoming Thursday(23/07), 2.30pm sharp at the Foyer. Transportation is available to and fro. We would appreciation it if you have a quick lunch before this trip as we will not be stopping at any vendor to fill stomachs.

Do join us as this would be your only chance to be there and experience nature. We promise to make this trip an unforgettable one for you.

Yours faithfully

MY VIEWS ON TERRORISM

According to an online dictionary, terrorism is :

  1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
  2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
  3. a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government

I had never cared about terrorism as I know that Singapore is a safe and peaceful country. However, after Mas Selamat exist, i had started to learn more about it. i started to be more aware of terrorism. Honestly, I am afraid of terrorism. I think everybody is- we should be. Terrorism is a great danger both to the country and the people involving it. It is between life and death. Innocence get killed too. In order to prevent terrorism, I think we should just "make friends" with other countries especially our neighbouring countries- just like Singapore does it! I cannot do much as I am just a normal 14-year old school girl. However I will try my best and see if I can do more in the future.

Summative Journal

English aa
Summative writing

Nur Shu’ada Baharudin(11)
30th March 2009

From what I had read the whole of this process, I think that human beings are the one whom are the cause of all this things. They are not giving this poor animals, at all, a chance to live . to live their life in a more good and peaceful way. Now, allow me to let you see on what are some of the articles I had written a journal of which I had read some days before- to help you understand better on what I’m going to talk about in this further writing.

From the whale’s conservation article…
Who would believe it? the big blue giant is fading awayyyy!!!! by the way, Whales, dolphins and porpoises are facing ever-increasing dangers despite the 20-year ban on commercial whaling. We've prepared a series of questions and answers on whale conservation and WWF's efforts to protect these magnificent creatures.WWF has found that around 300,000 whales, dolphins and porpoises are killed each year as
bycatch in fishing nets. This translates to nearly 1,000 cetaceans killed each day in fishing nets... In my opinion, man are being selfish in not letting them a chance to live longer in this earth... i dont mean that they cannot hunt for it but, be aware of the population of them and at least... have sympathy...

From the elephants conservation article…
Recently,I read an article about elephant conservation.... this article illiterates about how elephants are important to man, what different types of their body are use for...and what are the consequences of them not existing on earth... in my opinion, we should at least do our best and try not to kill a lot of them... this is because, without them, medicines will not be to an extand andthe jungle man not having anything to eat... Hence, we should try our best to conserve elephants...

From the dolphins conservation article…
This cute and adorable marine mammal is also fading away. Although dolphins are legally protected by the Marine Mammal Protection Act and several other laws, entanglements in fishing nets is still a concern in many areas, the primary threat to these (and many other wild animals) is the destruction of habitat and loss of available food. To me, to really protect dolphins in the wild we must protect their natural habitats. Today, most bottlenose dolphin populations appear to be healthy and are not endangered. Also, some other species of cetaceans, however, are not so fortunate. In my opinion, again man are being selfish by not making or even giving this cute and adorable marine mammal, which is the love of most of us, a chance to live and to also lead a good and peaceful life .. what i meant is, man can still hunt for them but to a certain extansion...

From what I had written here, I think you had understand what I am trying to express here… HUMANS are SELFISH!!! Erm… sorry… I do not mean to be rude, but yeah this is the FACT. And I tell you this is no laughing matter. Humans are doing anything just to satisfy themselves. But how about the animals which had suffered a lot since the day they were born. So,fellow friends out there THINK before you ACT!

More about elephants:P their emotionsXP

never once in a life time did I thought of animals having their own emotions...especially elephants! imagine them.. feeling happy... sad... angry.. all this emotions are, to me, not shown by elephants to human beings... imagine them being killed by the shooting gun... the parang or even a machine gun...*cry* WHY!.... oh... WHY! had i not realise how hard it is for them to continue their live... to live... without even having the right to live their own life... *sigh* from now on, i promise myself to try not to make the elephants cry or even not leading a peaceful life... i'll try to do my best to safe their lifes.. even by having risk my own life...
